What are Backlinks? | How do they work?

In this post we will learn how to get backlinks free for our site and talk about their importance regarding our sites.
How does Google figures out which website to rank on number one, two, and number three?
It comes down to SEO, right? Well, it's more in-depth than that.
Google has more than 200 factors; and the most important one that affects rankings is Backlinks
Moz SEO company took interviews of tons of marketing experts, and they asked them that which factors affect Google's rankings the most? They all answered Backlinks.

So, Backlinks?, this is one website linking to another website. Google's looking at it as votes. The more your website has, the higher your site's gonna rank. In addition to that, they're looking at quality. So, if Wikipedia Post links to you, that's way more effective than if Upwork linked to you. And Google knows that it's way harder to get a link from Wikipedia Post than it is to get a link from Upwork.
Now, another thing that they're checking is the relevancy of the link? So we can take an example, if Wikipedia Post links to your freelancing website, that's actually not as effective compared to Upwork linking to you. On the other side, if Fiverr linked to you, because it's very relevant and they're within your space, that's way more effective than if Wikipedia linked to you.

What Google Looks For?

Google is looking at how many backlinks you're getting; how many you're getting over time because it has to be natural, they don't want you to pay for the link to the  website because they don't like that, you shouldn't pay for links; they're looking at how related those websites are; and they're looking at something called domain authority, that's how authoritative that website is.
So, for example, you are getting many backlinks, from related websites and they have high domain authority.
A domain authority ranges from 0 to 100, 100 being like a Google.com, Youtube, a Facebook. A logarithmic scale, in which it's way easier to go from zero to ten , than it is to go from ten to twenty. So, if you are able to obtain a lot of backlinks, you can get them from relevant sites, and you can get them from authoritative sites that have high domain authority, your rankings are gonna climb. If you're wondering what domain authority is, like what is the domain authority of a desired site , you can go to ahrefs.com, put in the desired URL and they will display the domain authority. It's a paid tool. A free alternative of this too is “Open Site Explorer”.
If you Google 'Open Site Explorer', it'll redirect you to moz.com, and you can put in a URL and it will display the site's domain authority.

Now you are able to figure out how the backlinks work in the eyes of Google, if you want to get links the quickest way is to do round-up posts.

How to Get One?

So, go and email every single experienced person you know in your space. You can email these people, include them in their round-up posts; and since you're asking them one question and you're asking that same question to every expert within the space. It is a great opportunity for them to get free fame, which is why they;'ll participate happily. And once they participate, and give you a positive response, write an awesome blog post presenting all the responses, include their name and the link to their website, link to their Twitter or Facebook profile. And then from the same platform, email each of them, once you've published the post, and ask them to share it on their favorite social network. By doing this, your blog, your website, is gonna get more traffic. The more eyeballs that see your site, the higher will be the probability that someone's gonna link back to your site. More the backlinks you receive, more above your site will be ranked.

Types Of Backlinks

The Links can be classified into two types:
  • Do Follow Backlink
  • No Follow Backlink
A Do-Follow link informs the search engines that this link is good and that you shouldn’t mind if the links help them rank higher.

A No-Follow link informs the search engine that the link isn't approved by you or that it is paid and that the link shouldn't help the site rank higher.
